EMBRACE THE SEASON OF NEW STARTS

BY DR MORENA MCNAMARA

Morena here, first and foremost we have some exciting news to share…

We’re thrilled to announce that our team at The Family Chiro is welcoming a new addition! That’s right, as some of you may have sensed…I’m pregnant! Josh and I are absolutely thrilled to announce Baby McNamara will be joining us earth side around March of 2025. As we prepare for this joyful journey, we’re reminded of the beauty of spring – a perfect time to focus on new beginnings, health, and wellness.

As the days grow longer and the earth reawakens, spring offers us an incredible opportunity to revitalise our health and embrace healthy habits. The transition from winter to spring is not just about blooming flowers, but also about nurturing our bodies and minds. Here are some tips to help you spring into wellness this season!

1. Refresh Your Routine: With the change in season, it’s a great time to revisit your daily routine. Incorporate activities that encourage movement, such as hiking, biking, or practicing yoga outdoors. Not only does exercise boost your physical health, but it also enhances your mood and energy levels. Set achievable goals to stay motivated! Not usually a bedmaker, give it a whirl first thing in the morning. Open those windows, clear out the winter air. Ever thought about prepping your brekkie or lunch or nutritious snacks the night before? Watch the space at reception for some lovely recipes to try out.

2. Spring Clean Your Diet: As the weather warms up, focus on fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables. Spring is the ideal time to enjoy leafy greens, strawberries, and asparagus. Incorporating these nutrient-rich foods into your diet will not only enhance your nutrition but also support your immune system as you transition to warmer months. This is a great time to add fresh produce direct from the farm. Have you ever been to Newcastle City Farmers Market? They’re on most Sundays from 7-1 at the Showgrounds. Not only are you able to get food straight from the farm to your fork, but it's nice to support the little guys too.

3. Connect with Nature: Take advantage of the pleasant weather by spending time outdoors. Nature has a remarkable way of improving our well-being. Whether it’s a leisurely walk in the park or a family picnic, being in nature can reduce stress and promote mental clarity. I suggest downloading AllTrails. We have got access to some of the most pristine, and beautiful bush walks right on our doorstep! Sure, there’s Glenrock and Fernleigh but there are so many more hidden gems out there.

4. Prioritise Your Spine Health: As you engage in more physical activities this spring, don’t forget the importance of spinal health. Regular chiropractic care can help keep your body aligned and functioning optimally. If you’re starting a new exercise routine, consider scheduling a visit to discuss how chiropractic care can support your journey. As I progress through my pregnancy and my body changes and adapts, I will absolutely be valuing my adjustments more than ever.

5. Mindfulness and Mental Wellness: Spring is a wonderful reminder to practice mindfulness. Take moments each day to reflect, meditate, or simply breathe deeply. Creating a mindful routine can help reduce anxiety and improve focus, making it easier to cultivate your healthy habits. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I downloaded the pregnancy related ‘Blessed’ App (although there are so many mindfulness apps out there for whatever journey you may be on). I have managed to practice mindfulness nearly every single day since even if it’s for 7 minutes. Everyone can find seven minutes a day for their mental health so let's get meditating.

It has been so special to finally share our baby news with you all, we are over the moon and very excited for this new chapter.  We wish you a vibrant and healthy spring season filled with growth, renewal, and joy! Remember to take care of yourselves and each other as we embark on this beautiful journey of wellness.

With Love,

Morena and Baby McNamara
